JFK's Rideshare Shuttle & Why Car Service Is Different
JFK implemented mandatory rideshare shuttles to reduce terminal congestion. Here's what that means for your ride.
Rideshare shuttle requirement
Between 12 PM and 2 AM, Uber and Lyft passengers at JFK must take a shuttle bus from the terminal to a remote pickup lot. This adds 15–30 minutes to your departure from the airport, on top of finding your driver in the lot.
Car service is exempt
Pre-booked car services (FHV) are exempt from the shuttle requirement. Your chauffeur picks you up directly at the terminal curb — the same experience you had before the shuttle policy was introduced. No bus, no remote lot, no delay.
