Sedan, SUV and Sprinter Luggage & Passenger Fit Guide
How to match your passenger count, checked suitcases, carry-ons, child seats and oversized gear to the right NYC chauffeur vehicle class.
- Executive / Luxury Sedan
- Up to 3 passengers · 3 standard bags
- Executive / Luxury SUV
- Up to 6 passengers · 6 standard bags
- Executive Sprinter
- Up to 14 passengers · 14 standard bags
Why maximum seats and real-world luggage fit are two different numbers
The most common booking mistake on airport and cruise transfers is choosing a vehicle solely by headcount without counting checked bags, carry-on rollers, backpacks and strollers. For safety and cabin comfort, luggage must fit inside the enclosed trunk or dedicated rear cargo bay—never stacked on passengers' laps or blocking the rear window.
Use our published limits below as your baseline, and step up one vehicle class whenever your group carries oversized suitcases, golf clubs, skis, strollers or child safety seats.
Class-by-class passenger and luggage breakdown
Executive & Luxury Sedans (Up to 3 passengers · 3 standard bags)
Mercedes E-Class / BMW 5 Series (Executive) or Mercedes S-Class / BMW 7 Series (Luxury). Ideal for 1 to 2 travelers with checked bags, or 3 light business travelers with small rollers. If 3 adults each have a large 28-inch checked suitcase plus a carry-on, upgrade to an SUV.
Executive & Luxury SUVs (Up to 6 passengers · 6 standard bags)
Chevrolet Suburban / GMC Yukon XL (Executive) or Cadillac Escalade ESV (Luxury). Comfortable for 4 to 5 adults with checked luggage, or up to 6 passengers with standard bags. Best choice for families using 1–2 child seats.
Executive Sprinter Van (Up to 14 passengers · 14 standard bags)
High-roof Mercedes-Benz Sprinter cabin with stand-up entry and dedicated rear luggage space. Built for 7 to 14 passengers, corporate roadshows, cruise groups or families with 7+ suitcases, strollers and equipment cases.
Odd-shaped & oversized items
Hard-shell golf travel bags, ski bags, double strollers, wheelchairs, musical instruments and production pelicans take the volume of 2 standard suitcases each. Always list them in your booking notes.
Quick decision rules for common NYC travel scenarios
- 2 adults + 2 large checked bags + 2 carry-ons: fits comfortably in an Executive or Luxury Sedan, or choose an SUV if you prefer extra cabin room.
- 4 adults + 4 checked bags + 4 carry-ons: requires an Executive or Luxury SUV (exceeds Sedan passenger and trunk limits).
- 2 adults + 2 children in car seats + stroller + 4 suitcases: requires an Executive or Luxury SUV because two child seats occupy two full rear seating positions and the stroller shares cargo space with your bags.
- 6 adults returning from a 10-day international trip or cruise with 8–12 bags: step up to an Executive Sprinter Van so bags do not crowd the passenger rows.
Luggage and vehicle sizing FAQs
What counts as one 'standard bag' in your fleet ratings?
A standard bag refers to a typical 24- to 26-inch checked suitcase or full-size carry-on roller. Oversized 30-inch trunks, golf bags, ski bags and folding strollers take more space and should be noted when requesting your quote.
Can soft backpacks or briefcases ride inside the cabin?
Small personal items that fit safely at your feet may ride in the cabin, but wheeled carry-ons and hard suitcases must fit in the trunk or rear cargo compartment.
How do child car seats affect passenger capacity?
Each infant, convertible or booster seat occupies one full passenger position and reduces flexibility in the row where it is installed. See our car service with car seats guide for family sizing tips.
What happens if we book a Sedan and arrive at the airport with more luggage than fits?
For safety reasons, vehicles cannot drive with open trunks or loose suitcases in the passenger area. Sharing your honest bag count at booking ensures we dispatch an SUV or Sprinter Van the first time.
