Lock in your match day rate →FIFA World Cup 2026 Transportation — New York / New Jersey
The 2026 FIFA World Cup comes to MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey — just 7 miles from Midtown Manhattan. MetLife hosts group stage matches, Round of 16, quarterfinals, a semifinal, and the World Cup Final on July 19, 2026. Chauffeur Service NYC provides complete ground transportation for the tournament: airport transfers from JFK, LaGuardia, Newark, and Teterboro, hotel-to-stadium round trips, multi-day packages, and corporate hospitality coordination.
With an expected 1.5 million visitors to the NYC metro area during the tournament, ground transportation demand will be unprecedented. Rideshare surge pricing, traffic congestion around the Lincoln Tunnel and Route 3, and limited stadium parking make a pre-booked car service the most reliable way to get to and from matches. Book early — especially for the knockout rounds and Final.

Getting there
MetLife Stadium is in the Meadowlands Sports Complex, accessible via NJ Route 3 from the Lincoln Tunnel or NJ Turnpike. On match days, dedicated event lanes and police-directed traffic flow are expected. Your chauffeur receives real-time routing updates from our dispatch team.
Drop-off & pickup

Hotel Zones & Transport Logistics
Where you stay determines your match day commute. Here's how each area works.
Midtown Manhattan
Most popular for visitors. 30–50 min to MetLife off-peak, 60–90 min match day. Best nightlife, dining, and sightseeing access. Lincoln Tunnel route. We recommend Midtown for fans who want the full NYC experience between matches.
Downtown Manhattan / FiDi
35–55 min to MetLife via Holland Tunnel. Quieter than Midtown. Good hotel rates. Close to Statue of Liberty, Brooklyn Bridge, and WTC Memorial. Holland Tunnel can back up on match days — allow extra time.
Jersey City / Hoboken
20–35 min to MetLife via NJ Route 3. No tunnel crossing needed — significantly faster on match days. Waterfront hotels with Manhattan skyline views. Growing restaurant scene. Best balance of proximity and value.
East Rutherford / Meadowlands
5–15 min to MetLife. Walk or short drive. Limited hotel inventory — book very early. No nightlife. Best for fans who prioritize stadium proximity above all else.
Northern NJ (Morristown, Short Hills)
25–40 min to MetLife. Suburban hotels with parking. Good for families and groups renting cars. Quieter experience. Easy access via Route 280 or Route 24 to NJ Turnpike.
Near Newark Airport
15–25 min to MetLife. Convenient for late arrivals and early departures. Airport hotel rates. Not walkable to anything — you'll need car service for everything, but MetLife is close.
Car Service vs NJ Transit to MetLife
NJ Transit runs special event trains to Meadowlands station on match days. Here's how it compares.
For groups of 3+, a car service is often the same price per person as NJ Transit — with door-to-door service, zero walking, and no post-match platform wait.

First Time in New York? What You Need to Know
Practical logistics for international fans visiting NYC for the World Cup.
Visa & entry
Most visitors need an ESTA (Visa Waiver countries) or B-1/B-2 visa. Apply well in advance — World Cup demand will create processing delays. Have your hotel confirmation and return flight details ready at immigration. Global Entry speeds up arrival at JFK and Newark.
Currency & payments
US dollars. Credit cards accepted everywhere — Visa and Mastercard universally, Amex widely. Contactless payments (Apple Pay, Google Pay) work at most venues. ATMs available but charge $3–5 fees for foreign cards. Tipping: 18–20% at restaurants, $2–5 for car service is appreciated but not required (gratuity is optional and can be added at checkout).
Mobile & connectivity
Buy a prepaid US SIM or eSIM at the airport or order one online before arrival. T-Mobile and AT&T have the best NYC coverage. Our vehicles include complimentary WiFi, so you're connected from airport to hotel to stadium.
Getting around NYC
Subway ($2.90/ride) covers Manhattan and Brooklyn well. For airport transfers and MetLife Stadium — subway doesn't reach. That's where car service is essential. We handle airport pickup, stadium runs, and any point-to-point trip in between.
Safety
NYC is one of the safest major cities in the world. Midtown, Times Square, and all tourist areas are well-policed. Standard precautions: watch belongings in crowds, avoid unlit side streets late at night, use licensed car services (like us) rather than unmarked vehicles.
Language
English is primary. NYC is one of the most multilingual cities on earth — Spanish, Mandarin, French, Arabic, Portuguese widely spoken. Our chauffeurs are professional and courteous with all international guests. Translation apps work well for any language barrier.
NYC Weather During the World Cup
The tournament runs June–July. Here's what to expect and how to prepare.
Temperature
June: 70–85°F (21–29°C). July: 75–90°F (24–32°C). Humidity is high — feels hotter than the number suggests. Heat index can reach 95–100°F on peak days.
Hydration matters
Drink water constantly, especially before and during outdoor matches. MetLife Stadium is open-air with limited shade. We provide bottled water in every vehicle — cold and waiting when you step in after the match.
Rain is possible
June–July averages 8–12 rain days per month. Afternoon thunderstorms are common and pass quickly. Bring a light rain jacket. Matches proceed in rain — MetLife has no roof.
What to wear
Light, breathable clothing. Sunscreen and a hat for day matches. A light layer for air-conditioned vehicles and restaurants. Comfortable shoes — you'll walk 1–2 miles inside the stadium and surrounding area.
What to Do Between Matches
Use our hourly chauffeur service to explore NYC on your own schedule.
